Celebrate Summer 2018 At These 7 Rooftops In NYC

Rooftop season is officially underway and there is nothing New Yorkers love more than a good view and an even better cocktail to go with it. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite destinations across NYC and Brooklyn for you to get your summer sip on this season.

Mr. Purple

You can always feel the good vibes coming from this buzzy Lower East Side hangout at Hotel Indigo. The space features both indoor and outdoor space perfect for a party during the summer season. Using downtown New York as a backdrop, the interior space is complemented by two terraces. The smaller eastern terrace is perfect for an intimate gathering while the larger terrace located on the west side of the space has its own swimming pool, bar and variety of seating options including chaise lounges, banquettes, and high top communal tables.

Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge

As the sun goes down, ride the elevator up to Magic Hour, New York City’s largest indoor/outdoor all-season hotel rooftop bar and lounge, the latest NYC development from the TAO Group.

The 10,000 square foot rooftop boasts incredible views of the Empire State Building as well as carousel seating, an oversized topiary garden, and Foreplay, a miniature putt-putt, featuring life-size animals in compromising positions. An unonventional addition to the menu is the option to book one of the hotel’s nineteen Crashpads – meant for those who may have had a few too many rounds on the carousel or simply don’t want the night to end.

The Polynesian

Set apart by teak doors, The Polynesian’s private lounge is veteran craft bartender Brian Miller’s homage to all things Rum and pirate-related. Suggesting a nautical abode and offering hundreds of vintage, rare and off-beat Rums, it is bedecked with Tiki carvings, red curtains and pirate portraits. Located inside the Pod Times Square Hotel, The Polynesian offers a 21st century Tiki experience with elevated cocktails, nostalgic fare, and opulent décor.

Westlight

Thriving in the Williamsburg neighborhood is summer hotspot Westlight, a 22nd-floor rooftop bar offering incredible views of NYC atop The William Vale Hotel.

While you’re sipping on delicious cocktails enjoy 360-degree views of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows encircling the central bar and lounge. Above Westlight, you’ll find a 23rd-floor rooftop called Upstairs that offers the highest views of any hotel in Williamsburg with a grassy lawn area and additional lounge seating.

Roof at Park Avenue South

Roof at Park South is open and back in action for its fifth season, taking its place once again as one of Manhattan’s most beloved rooftops. Led by award-winning husband-and-wife restauranteurs Tim and Nancy Cushman, Roof is perched eight floors atop the Park South Hotel, the newest addition to the Joie de Vivre hotel collection, in the NoMad neighborhood. The rotating seasonal cocktail and food menu features unique and colorful twists on the classic mojito, mai tai and Moscow mule, along with delicious bites such as karaage fried chicken bites, carnitas tacos and more.

Broken Shaker

Located at the top floor of the George Washington Hotel turned Freehand Hotel, Broken Shaker is a rooftop oasis with beautiful views of NYC. Here you’ll find an eclectic menu of handcrafted cocktails like the Poppyseed Bagel Fizz and Curry In A Hurry as well as an expansive menu with both small and large plates. Created by Gabriel Orta and Elad Zvi of Bar Lab, Broken Shaker is a James Beard Award finalist and winner of Tales of the Cocktail’s Best American Hotel Bar.

Cachet Boutique NYC Hotel

Hudson Yards is booming and shows no sign of slowing down. The latest development to the area is urban retreat and open-air terrace SkyDeck at Cachet Boutique Hotel. Chill with happy hour cocktails or lounge under the stars as nightfalls over the SkyDeck, as the terrace is located in the heart of the property and offers a lively and airy ambiance for guests. Making it the perfect backdrop to enjoy a cocktail – the space features a large scale mural by JPOArt, a visual artist known for his vibrant style and emotional design. The SkyDeck offers specialty cocktails al fresco, including Rose in the Garden, Garden Sangria, and Eden’s Paloma.
