Louis Vuitton has officially debuted its latest cultural showcase, Visionary Journeys, in the heart of Shanghai. Housed inside The Louis—a spectacular boat-shaped structure that fuses art, retail, gastronomy, and design—the immersive exhibition pays tribute to the creative DNA of the Maison.Located on Wujiang Road in HKRI Taikoo Hui, The Louis merges history with modernity, reflecting both Louis Vuitton’s heritage in trunk-making for transoceanic travel and Shanghai’s identity as the “Gateway to the East.”
An Immersive Voyage Through Time and Design
The Visionary Journeys experience, crafted by architect Shohei Shigematsu of OMA, is conceived as a multi-sensory exploration through Louis Vuitton’s legacy—from travel and fashion to innovation and craftsmanship.Upon entering, visitors encounter the breathtaking Trunkscape installation: a monumental archway of Monogram canvas trunks, symbolizing the Maison’s foundational expertise.
Themed Rooms Tell a Story of Craft and Culture
The exhibition unfolds across seven uniquely themed spaces: Origins Voyage Perfume Books Sport Fashion WorkshopEach room highlights Louis Vuitton’s avant-garde spirit, showcasing everything from an Ernest Hemingway-owned Library Trunk, to creations by visionary designers such as Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquière, Virgil Abloh, and Pharrell Williams.
Perfume connoisseurs will also find olfactory artistry on display, courtesy of Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, while interactive installations emphasize the Maison’s blend of savoir-faire and contemporary culture.
